Export and Import Cookies in Internet Explorer 8
If for some reason you decide to delete the cookies your Internet Explorer 8 web browser has stored on your hard drive, you are welcomed to do so either manually (see here) or automatically (see here). Cookies are small pieces of text that your web browser stores locally so that it can remember things like your browsing preferences, certain login data, shopping cart contents, the identifier for a server-based session, and other data.
Cookies may contain info for a customized site or login info for a specific webpage. For that reason you may want to export or save the cookies before deleting them. Alternatively, you may want to export cookies before deleting them for the simple fact that it is the safer route – better be safe than sorry, I always say.
Here is what you have to do to export/save cookies in IE8:
Step 1. Launch Internet Explorer
Step 2. In the list of menus at the top, click File (the first menu to the left).
Step 3. In the dropdown menu that appears click Import and Export…
Step 4. The Import/Export Settings window should have popped up. Click Export to a file -> click Next.
Step 5. Check the box next to Cookies -> click Next.
Step 6. You will be asked Where do you want to export your cookies? If you are pleased with the default location, just click Export. If not, click Browse -> select the location where you would like to export the cookies -> click Save -> then click Export.
Step 7. Click Finish and you’re done.
