Below is a detailed, step-by-step guide that will tell you how to disable, and alternatively how to enable JavaScript in the Mozilla developed Firefox browser. JavaScript is enabled by default in Firefox. This is because the browser needs it to run certain sites, or certain features on a specific site. I find that disabling JavaScript on certain sites also disables the clutter that I’m not interested in while letting me view the content I’m interested in.

Here is what you have to do to disable JavaScript in Firefox:

Step 1. Launch the Firefox browser.

Step 2. From the list of menus at the top, click Tools.

Step 3. From the dropdown menu that appears click Options.

Step 4. In the Options window click the Content tab.

Step 5. To disable JavaScript, uncheck the box next to Enable JavaScript.
To enable JavaScript, check the box next to Enable JavaScript.

Step 6. Click OK and you’re done.
