Create a Yahoo! Mail Account
Below is a detailed, step-by-step tutorial on how to create an account with Yahoo! Mail. I've also included some images to help you through the most difficult parts. Not that the process is difficult, because it is not. I'm just covering all the bases here.
Step 1. Go to Yahoo! Mail (click here – a new tab will open) and click Sign Up.
Step 2.You will now have top provide a few details about yourself:
- First and last name, gender, birthday, where you live, postal code.
- Pick your Yahoo! ID and Password (and retype the password to confirm it). If the ID is not available you will get a notification. Type in a different ID and click Check to see if it is taken as well
- Provide an alternate email, just in case you ever need to recover your ID or password. Then select a security question (or tow) and provide an answer. Make sure you do not pick an easy question with an easily guessable answer. Pick something that only you would know the answer to.
Step 3. Type in the CAPTCHA code – the squiggly thing at the bottom. Check the box next to Do you agree with the Yahoo! Terms of Service, Yahoo! Privacy Policy, and the Mail Terms of Service.
Step 4. Click Create My Account
Step 5. You will be directed to a webpage where you are congratulated for having set up an Yahoo! Mail account. You are presented with a summary of the of the information you provided during the previous steps. To be more precise, you are presented with your Yahoo! ID and email, birthday, the security question(s) and the answer to it, your postal code.
You should now click Continue under Ready to Experience Yahoo! Mail? You will directed to your Yahoo! Mail account and a brief walkthrough will guide you through the basics of using Yahoo! Mail.

- Keep in mind that if you do not use your Yahoo! Mail account for a period of 4 months, the account will be deactivated and removed. Once an account has been deactivated, the user will not be able to access it – the fact that email messages have been sent to the deactivated account does not matter. All the information stored on that account cannot be recovered.
- If you would like to create a Gmail account instead, check out this tutorial.
