Mountain View-based search engine giant Google put a lot of effort into making the Chrome browser the fastest browser on the market today (this means it has the fastest JavaScript engine compared to of all other browsers). In keeping with that philosophy we are now going to show you how to easily and quickly change your homepage in Google Chrome.

Here is what you have to do:

Step 1. Launch the Chrome browser.
In this regard you can double click the desktop icon, click the Chrome icon from the Start menu, or whatever other means you use to launch the software application.

Step 2. Click the wrench menu from the top right hand corner of the window.

Step 3. A dropdown menu will appear. Click Options.

Step 4. The Google Chrome Options window will appear. From the list of tabs at the top click the one that says Basics.

Step 5. In the Home Page section (roughly in the middle of the window) you will see these options:
Use the New Tab Page – check this option and each time you click the Home button, you will be presented with the 8 sites you visit most often.
Open this page – after checking this option you will have to type in the URL of a specific webpage. Every time you click the Home button, you will be directed to that webpage.

Select the option that suits your needs and tastes.

Step 6. Click Close and you’re done.

Tips and warnings
  • When you get to step 5 you can uncheck the box next to show home button on the toolbar. If you do, the Home button will no longer be displayed. You can easily access your homepage with a simple keyboard shortcut: Alt + Home. There are numerous other keyboard shortcuts you can use in Chrome. A detailed, comprehensive list is available here.
