The Google developed Chrome web browser has the fastest JavaScript on the market to date. This means it lets the user surf the net at incredible speeds. This interest for speed spills over in helping users get to what they need – fast. So the URL address bar doubles as a search engine; just type in a query, press enter and Chome will display a list of results. And here’s the catch – those results are based on the search engine Chrome use’s by default. Any guesses what search engine is? It’s Google, duh. Perhaps you would like to change it to something else. If that is the case, follow the detailed, step-by-step instructions presented below.
Here is what you have to do to change the default search engine in Google Chrome:
Step 1. First of all you need to launch the Chrome browser. So double click the desktop icon, click the Chrome icon from the Start menu, or whatever other means you use to launch the software application.
Step 2. Click the wrench menu.
Step 3. From the dropdown menu that appears select Options.
Step 4. The Google Chrome Options window will appear. Click the Basics tab.
Step 5. In the Default search section, click the dropdown menu and select the search engine of your choice.
If the search engine you want to set as the default is not displayed in the dropdown menu, click Manage -> click Add from the Search Engines window that appears -> type in the search engine’s name and URL -> click OK -> click Close.
Step 6. Click Close to close the Google Chrome Options window and you’re done.
