Change the BS.Player Skin

Proof that BS.Player is a properly good media player is its popularity – there are more than 70 million people out there that have installed BS.Player on their computer and are enjoying all the features the software has to offer. According to the BS.Player team, all downloaded versions of the free BS.Player media player “exceed the sum of all downloads of competitive media players and payable DivX or DVD player.” That’s how popular this piece of software is.

In a previous article we’ve guided you through the installation process of BS.Player (learn how to install BS.Player here). Now we fill focus on something you might want to do after you’re done installing the software, mainly changing the media player’s looks.

You can change the way BS.Player looks by applying a skin. First of all you might want to check out the existing BS.Player skins, the skins that come built into the media player. Here is what you have to do:

Step 1. Launch the BS.Player media player.

Step 2. Right click anywhere on the BS.Player UI (user interface) -> in the menu that appears go to Options -> click Skins.

Step 3. A list of available skins is displayed right under Skins. Click any skin in the list to apply it.

Now I do realize there are very few skins in the list. Luckily you can get more online:

Step 4. Go to the official BS.Player page, the skins section – click here (a new tab will open).

Step 5. Find a skin that you like and click Download.
Using Firefox you can then do one of the following:
Select Open with and the skin will downloaded and applied to BS.Player
Select Save File -> save the skin locally -> double click the saved skin and it will be applied to BS.Player.

Tips and warnings
  • You can replace step 2 in the tutorial presented above with a simple keyboard shortcut: Alt + S.
