Add an Extra Address to Yahoo! Mail

If you do not have a Yahoo! Mail account, you could easily set one up. The whole process should not take more than a few minutes if you follow the detailed, step-by-step instructions presented here. If you already have an account with Yahoo! Mail, and you are not happy with it, you could easily delete it and create a new one. This way you won’t have to tell everyone at the office that your email address is CuteNFluffyTBear.

But you do not have to give up on CuteNFluffyTBear@yahoo.com. Yahoo! lets you add an extra address to Yahoo! Mail. Program Manager with Yahoo! Mail, Andrew Molyneux, explains what an extra Yahoo! Mail address is: “An extra mail address is a second Yahoo! email address that is linked to your existing Yahoo! Mail account. It’s another email address, just like your primary one, that you can use to send and receive mail from, while using the exact same Inbox you’re used to. You can even make it the default address that you send email from if you want.

Here is what you have to do to add and extra account to Yahoo! Mail:

Step 1. Go to Yahoo! Mail (click here – a new tab will open) -> type in your username and password -> click Sign In.

Step 2. In the upper right hand side of the screen click Options -> Mail Options

Step 3. Click Accounts -> Add or edit an Account.

Step 4. Under Extra Email Address click Get Started.

Tips and warnings
  • Here is what you can do with the extra Yahoo! Mail address:
- Select the extra address from the dropdown menu to send emails from the extra address
- Use the extra email address and your current password to sign into Yahoo! Mail
- Make the extra address the default for sending new messages.
  • Try to log into your Yahoo! Mail account at least once every four months, otherwise you will lose it. After 4 months of inactivity Yahoo! will deactivate and remove your Yahoo! Mail account.
